Francis Blackwell Forbes, the son of John Murray Forbes and a member the Forbes family, was a clergyman. He was the greatgrandson, Rev. John Forbes and grandson of James Grant Forbes. They had three boys: William Howell Forbes (1837-1896), Henry De Courcy Forbes 1849-1920, and Paul Revere Forbes (1836-1936). The family owned and operated a number of businesses in New York and overseas.
